For Angelos Panagiotidis

By working with inspiration and passion on copper to sculpt trees, Angelos Panagiotidis manages to renew “from within” not only the way he sees them but also how he experiences and feels them. Whether it is Olive trees, Almond trees, Apricot trees, wild trees, trees of his imagination, or rather trees seen through the eyes of his soul, the artist communicates with us even through the subtlest yet always essential variations.

Constantly refreshing the aesthetic identity of the trees beyond their inherent nature—through the different patinas of copper, whose shades are influenced by the temperatures to which he subjects the raw material—Panagiotidis fully convinces us of the vast range of his inspiration. Trees of great variety in terms of scale, orientation, and not just the type of foliage, coexist in his smaller-sized trees alongside human figures, boats, and more. These elements have persistently inspired Panagiotidis, who, at the beginning of his career, had similarly imaginative creations, sculpting anthropomorphic and abstract figures using components from tools and mechanisms.

These early works were distinguished by their personal style and ingenuity. Thanks to this ingenuity, his current tree sculptures, despite their thematic consistency, continue to renew themselves. Crafted with an outstanding technique that guarantees the quality of execution, Angelos Panagiotidis’ Trees stand as both tangible and metaphysical testimonies to a profound and multi-layered communication taking place.
